The Walkup Trial Skills Lab was created to give back to the plaintiff bar by sharing the strategies, techniques, and lessons our lawyers have developed over decades in the courtroom.

Every course is completely free. We don’t charge fellow plaintiff lawyers because the goal of the Trial Skills Lab isn’t to generate revenue—it’s to share knowledge, strengthen the plaintiff bar, and help lawyers achieve better results for the people they represent. Sessions are led by senior partners and veteran trial lawyers at Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger and are designed specifically for plaintiff-side attorneys practicing in California. Each one-hour program is designed to qualify for 1.0 hour of California General MCLE credit upon completion.

About the Program
Each course will stream live via Zoom on Thursdays at 2:00 PM PST. Courses span the full arc of plaintiff trial practice — from using final argument analogies in traumatic brain injury cases to crafting opening statements that frame your case from the very first sentence. Each session is built for working trial lawyers and delivered in a format designed to be applied immediately in your next case.

Our Team

Here are the terms for a Walkup Team-Up case:

Upon joining the case, Walkup will cover the next $25,000 in costs, and split costs 50/50 after that point.
Walkup’s fee is 33% of the total fee.
The Walkup attorney who is joining to try the case will get at least enough responsibility in the trial to result in an ABOTA point.
The non-Walkup attorney will be primarily responsible for all pretrial filings.
The non-Walkup attorney will handle all post-trial motion practice.
